Breaüxdoo Bakery — Meet the Owner

Look at those colors 😍

I recently had the chance to peek into Spokane's own Willa Wonka Factory, aka Breaüxdoo Bakery! I was able to talk to Mr. Wonka himself, aka business owner, Gage Lang, and ask him a few questions about his business.

Breaüxdoo Bakery is an American bakery at the surface. Dig a little deeper, and you'll see what makes them so unique—late-night dessert delivery. You read the right: dessert. delivery. They deliver their goods, such as warm cookies and cold milk, straight to your door. You don't even have to make a phone call! It's as easy as a few clicks on their website, and within a few short moments, you'll be in dessert heaven.

If there were ever a time for "smellevision," this would be the time. When I arrived, the smell of fresh-baked cookies instantly hit my nose, taking me back to childhood memories. The sound of the electric mixer reminds me of family holiday gatherings (even though grandma's kitchen aid isn't industrial-sized). Seeing all the vibrant colors of the sprinkles, white chocolate chips, and crushed cherries will instantly turn on anyone's sweet tooth. The warm, soft, melt-in-your-mouth cookies are truly delightful.

Gage opened the bakery towards the end of May this year, making Breaüxdoo Bakery about three months old! I asked why he chose to open during the COVID-19 pandemic. His response was, "everyone is home and looking for something new to try! What better time than now?" What a refreshing and cheerful outlook!

A typical day in business can expect to look like: prepping and making the dough, baking the cookies, filling orders, and delivering the products straight to the customer's door. Gage's goals with his delicious desserts are to evoke emotions such as joy and happiness. I mean, throw one of these bad boys in front of my face, and I'd sure smile! "We want you to experience a 'foodgasm'" Gage says.

The bakers that were in the cookie lab that day have an educational background in the biz, completing the baking program at Spokane Community College. Beauty and brains! Breaüxdoo Bakery is proud to use nothing but the best ingredients. Such as real butter, pure vanilla extract, and a house-made caramel dipping sauce. You're doing yourself a disservice if you haven't tried these cookies yet!

It's as if you can taste the passion and that goes into making them. I asked the bakers what their favorite part of their job was, and they told me, "well, all of it!" Making the products from scratch, using high quality and locally sourced ingredients, and the work environment was top on their list.

When asked why he started the business, Gage told me that he had worked corporate jobs for over eight years and knew that he wanted the freedom of owning his own business. "Plus, who doesn't want to make cookies all day?" he asked. He wanted to create a work environment that was relaxed and where employees feel respected and heard. Their opinions can be heard, and their ideas are put to the test when creating new recipes.

Speaking of new recipes, they plan to extend their menu in the Fall with items such as truffles, pies, cakes, etc. I will be there to test every last one of them! 😍 Follow them on the gram @breauxdoobakery to stay in the loop.

Gage plans to open a retail store in Spokane soon and eventually expand into other urban cities such as Seattle and Los Angeles. It's safe to say; he's a man with a plan!

You can order their desserts here.

Keep an eye out for their delivery drivers in the evenings and give them a smile and wave as they drive by. I have no doubt that we will be seeing Breaüxdoo Bakery nationwide!

Thank you so much to Gage for letting me into your dreamy cookie lab for the day! I had so much fun learning about your business and the vision that you have. I'm so excited to see where you go with Breaüxdoo Bakery!
